Many newborn babies have mucus in their eyes. There are mainly two causes of this: 1. The baby suffers from conjunctivitis. When the baby was being delivered, his eyes may be infected by the bacteria along the passage. In this case, the doctor may prescribe antibiotic eyepaste for your baby. 2.His tear ducts may be blocked. This is very common in newborns. Normally it can fix itself. Just use warm cloth to gently wipe away the mucus. If the situation doesn't get better, take the baby to see a doctor.

I am sorry to hear that. It really likes the symptom of the goopy eyes. If so, it is normal to the new baby due to their immature tear duct and immunological deficiency. Relatively , it is said that the breast milk has curative properties, due to its antiseptic property etc., particularly when your baby encounter with goopy eyes. Generally, it will get better as time goes on. Well, you can use a baby swab to wipe off the mucus around his eyes, and apply a wash cloth with some warm water(cool the boiled water) to his eyes to make him feel better. However, on safe side, it is wise to bring him to the pediatricians, and knowing causes definitely can help you to care him.

Well, yes, it is kind of normal to have mucus for newborn. And for newborn baby, it can be impossible eye problem. But on the other hand, it actually occurs. Generally speaking, when the external eye structures become irritated, triggering an inflammatory response, eye mucus can be possible. For the causes, bacterial eye infections, allergies and abnormal tear production or content can just be common ones. So we can say that it can be very dangerous to have eye mucus. But on the other hand, mucus in newborn’s eyes can disappear by itself with time. So you do not need to worry about it. And it still exists, medical care is needed.
