Well, I think you got snow blindness. It is caused by too much exposure to the sun's UV rays. As we know, snow field can reflect sun light to the most degree. so it is a wise decision to wear glasses to protect our eyes. Snow blindness can cause tearing of eyes, eye pain, red eyes etc. Snow blindness can cause a temporary or permanent loss of vision, so it is very important to have proper protection. If your eyes have already hurt, you can put any material to prevent every possible light entering your eyes. Surely, if it is possible, go to see the doctor, and he/she will give you some specific advises.

Well, for your situation, I have to say that it can be related to the high blood pressure you suffered during skiing. Generally speaking, there are many reasons which can lead to red eyes. For example, the most common one can be eye infection. But on the other hand, you should know that high blood pressure can lead to it too, for it will just increase eye pressure during skiing. In that way, your eyes will suffer redness. It can be kind of normal. And redness will disappear, so you do not need to worry about it.

You are most likely to have got sunburns to your eyes which is called snowblindness and sunburn to the skin around your eyes. The bright light reflected by the snow on the ground burned your retina. This can be very dangerous. If you feel continuous eye pain, you need to go to see a doctor. But only redness without other symptoms can be much less risky. Just drip some eyedrops regularly and apply cold compresses to your eyelids. Also, you need to protect your eyes from bright light with wearing sunglasses until your eyes turn normal.

I believe your reds eyes after skining is a combination of wind, glare, low humidity and less oxygen. Rewetting drops don't really help nor do drops for the redness. Goggles help but not enough. An optician once told me that contacts love either cold/dry or hot/humid conditions so skiing should be good for them. I am currently trying new monthly torics, Proclear and Frequency Xcel. I also have dry eyes. the proclear has a higher water content and I find them less comfortable. these lenses need more water which my eye is not producing.Red eyes mean something is irritating them. I assume you wear googles or wrap around shades so it should not be wind or glare. it might have something to do with the fit of your lens or the oxygen supply to the eye. probably best to see an optician for a check up.
