Styes are usually caused by staphylococcus bacteria. It is an eye infection which is common with most people. Many of us will experience it at some stage of our life. Stye can be called hordeolum too. They are small, painful lumps on the inside or outside of our eyelids. They are visible on the surface or deeper inside of our eyelids. And usually it is an abscess filled with pus.

You can use a few ways to remove excess germs and cellular debris over your eyelids. I found this on the internet: first, put a few drops of mild baby shampoo into a cup of warm water and stir it for a while. Second, close your eyelids and then use a cotton wool ball to brush the soapy solution along the base of your eyelashes gently. It is always important to avoid touching your eyelids with dirty towels or contaminated hands.
