Can reading glasses actually weaken your eyes?

This year i started wearing reading glasses, and they totally help! The problem now is that my regular vision seems worse-I have to squint to read thinks across the room that a year ago i could read with ease. I think i need regular glasses too. Could my reading glasses have messed up my vision? For example, i can't even read my email without my glasses now- i thought my reading glasses would aid my reading- I now am dependent on them to read
