Do you need to have an eye exam before purchasing glasses for astigmatism?

I don't want to pay for the exam cost, can I just buy a genertic pair of glasses for astigmatism from a drugstore/ eye care center or some where else?

If you have a copy of your prescription which is not out of date or you know the number of your eyes , you can get them online . there should be a form for you to fill in the number so that they can make the lenses you need . I know eye exams do cost an arm and a leg .It is better to have vision insurance which can save you a lot .

Buying online will save you a lot but you have to have a prescription at hand. There are large selections for you to choose for your favorite eye glasses frames.

If you don't see an eye doctor and get a prescription, then the glasses you get may not fit properly and may not work well. They could even damage your eyes. Even if you aren't having any problems now, the lenses still could be causing damage to your eyes. By having regular check ups and buying glasses with a prescription, you will reduce the chances of any undetected damage to your eyes.
