Protection of sunglasses against ultraviolet rays, what do 400UV mean?

I know that UV is ultraviolet, I want to know what 400 means, is some level of protection??Thanks

Usually the seller will recommend customers to purchase this kind of sunglasses. But the sunglasses of other quality may be a little cheap so some people won't buy this kind of sunglasses.
