Can I use prescription drops for pink eye if I don't have pink eye?

My eyes seem to get a pink eye infection because they are quite red and itch.I called my doctor and they told me to use some prescription eye drops for pink eye.I am not sure if it is the pink eye infection.Would it damage my eyes to use prescription drops for pink eye if I don't have pink eye?

    Be careful before putting any prescription drops into your eyes if you are not sure if you have symptoms that are suitable for this drops, otherwise it may cause your problem would become worse or it may cause other infections. You'd better have your eyes carefully examined and let the opticians or your eye doctor to prescribe the best treatment for you.

    If you can't determine whether you have got pink eye, you'd better not use prescription drops for pink eye to treat your problem. Otherwise you may make your problem even worse. You should go to see your doctor and let them diagnose it. He will give you the best treatment.
