Polycarbonate lenses (short for PC lenses) were introduced in eyeglasses in the early 1980s in response to a demand for lightweight, impact-resistant for eyeglasses lenses. In fact, Polycarbonate was originally developed for aerospace applications for helmet visors of astronauts and space shuttle windshields. Now, The PC lenses applied to eyeglasses are featured with impact resistant, light weight, UV protection as well as scratch resistant etc.

Polycarbonate lenses glasses have many advantages for wearers. First of all, they have inherent UV protection which can provide 100% UV protection, so you don't have to add UV protection coating to the lenses. Next, Polycarbonate lenses are impact resistant so that they are hard to get shattered. Thus Polycarbonate lenses glasses are good for children and sports players. They won't hurt eyes even when you are taking dangerous contact sports.
