Steroid eye drops do help relieve from the inflammation associated with dry eyes. But they can only be used for a short time like weeks and months at the most. If you use them over that time, it can cause increase of eye pressure which can cause glaucoma eventually if it is untreated. Long term use of steroid eye drops can even increase the risk of developing cataracts. Usually the doctor will suggest the patient use steroid eye drops for a short period of time. If you use steroid eye drops, you'd better have your eyes checked regularly.
