There are various types of eye infections including pink eye, fungal keratitis, acanthamoeba keratitis, trachoma, endophthalmitis and viral keratitis. All these infections are usually caused by bacteria or fungi or viruses. So it is hard to tell how to treat it perfectly. Once you suspect an eye infection, you should visit your eye doctor and have an eye exam to find out which eye infection you get. Nowadays, the most treatment for the bacteria eye infection is by prescription antibiotic eye drops or ointments and compresses. If you have viral eye infection, you can use antiviral eye drops. Depending on the cause of your eye infection, your doctor will give you the suitable medications.

Eye infection is usually caused by virus or bacteria mainly. It is normal to cause eye infection when you have trauma, eye surgery, wearing contact lenses or diseases. In order to treat the eye infection for your kids, you have to separate them to avoid any chance to contagious the eye infection to each other to worsen the situation. After that, you should always wash their eyelids gently with baby shampoo. And avoid them to rub their eyes any more, otherwise it would spread infection. Additionally, you can try eye drops because they help soothe the itching and discomfort. But you should ask about whether the OTC eye drops are suitable for children.
