Nautica Eyeglasses and Sunglasses
Nautica is a global sportswear and casualwear giant, led by David Chu as the founder, CEO and designer. Chu’s collection is very special that it covers various equipments focusing on the sailing theme, including a vary V-neck sweater and blazer, tan chinos, sockless loafters and fashionable tortoise eyeglasses. This image was created by Chu for all active men on the planet. Nautically inspired, the first group of clothing was simple and rugged with a palette redolent of nautical flags. After David Chu’s launch of flying colors in the States, international recognition followed. Nowadays, Nautica is absolutely an international brand that carries a casual American lifestyle attitude. For customers travelling around the world, Nautica is a universal idea.
Says David Chu, the consumer is much more sophisticated and choosy today, so you have to stay on top of everything, be open-minded and absorb what’s out there. This actually reflects the way in which Nautica carries out its business. Currently, the company has made it an international reality in broadcasting the Nautica concept. In addition, Nautica always brings technical expertise and optical industry experience to its partners. Nautica has persistently put eyewear fitness in the first place, before other factors such as good materials, lenses, shapes and colors. Fitness is also the key reason why Nautica license the brand to the trusted eyewear company Marchon.
Under the cooperation with Marchon, David Chu is responsible for the design of sunglasses and eyeglasses, while Marchon’s team is expected to enhance these features and make the glasses comfortable. One point is important that Chu accounts for much of the work in the development of the products. He also works closely with Marchon for any of the possible issues. Nautica tells Marchon what styles they need and Marchon presents lots of raw materials.
Nautica Eyewear has been recognized with some design details, like “invisible” spring hinges, hinges inspired by a sailing vessel’s winch and sculpted temples which are crafted to resemble ocean waves. Nautica uses a thin metal-alloy to make frames, exploiting its advantage of being more malleable than stainless steel. In addition, sunglasses in the Nautica collection are equipped with polarized, conventional plastic lenses with AR coating on the back surface. 100% UVA and UVB protection is ensured.
