History

Established in 1983

Dr. Wong graduated from optometry school in 1982 and decided to open his own practice. He leased a space in a building that was still being built, and has been in the same location for 27 years. He started small and asked Dr. Totsubo, a classmate from school, to work with him and share in the care of his patients. Seven years ago, Dr. Ng joined the practice, and more recently, Dr. Hom did as well. Dr. Wong is committed to running a family-oriented practice, and the staff is friendly and eager to answer your questions.

The Practice is conveniently located near the corner of Sutter and Buchanan Streets. Off street parking is available beneath the Japantown Center, 2 blocks south. Municipal Railway access is conveniently located on bus lines 38, 2, 3, and 4.
Meet the Business Owner: James H.

James H. Wong, OD
Dr. Wong is a long and established community leader whose practice offers leading edge eye services. Dr. Wong offers a personal, comprehensive, and educational approach to patient care that transcends the current trend of minimalist health care. He is certified in refractive surgery, pre- and post- operative care, as well as therapeutic management of ocular disease. Dr. Wong received his Bachelor degrees in Biophysics and Optometry with honors as well as his Doctorate in Optometry at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a past President and a past Director of the San Francisco Optometric Society and an active member of the American Optometric Association. He has a clinical affiliation with the Permanente Medical Group and is consistently in the forefront of eye care technology. His interests are bicycling and raising his three children.

Drs. Jamie M. Totsubo, Marilyn M. Ng and Richard C. Hom also share in the care of our wonderful patients.
