Hi, I'm Dr. Gary Tracy. For more than 35 years I've been helping patients see and look their best. From kids to seniors, athletes to web workers, neighborhood families to some pretty famous celebrities. No matter who walks in, I still see everyone personally for exams and fittings. And we have a great staff to help you choose from a great selection of stylish frames.
Look around our Yelp page and website. Please contact us with any questions or to book an appointment. I also hope you'll sign up for our free newsletter or connect with us on Facebook or Twitter, where I share eye care tips and occasional private sales. I look forward to seeing you! - Dr. Tracy
Established in 1974
Dr. Gary Tracy is one of New York City's most respected optometrists, in business since 1974 on the Upper West Side. He handles all types of cases, from thorough eye exams and hard-to-fit contact lenses, to computer vision problems and external diseases.
Dr. Tracy has been interviewed for publications like The New York Times, Business Week, Time Out, Family Circle, Men's Health and the Chicago Tribune. His clients include plenty of well-known celebrities. (John Lennon was a patient for five years). He's provided frames and consulted for several movies.
Dr. Tracy earned his Doctorate from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and is a member and lecturer for the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the New York State Optometric Association.
I love being on the Upper West Side. My patients are friendly and fascinating. It's so satisfying to solve visual problems that hinder one's best performance - whether they're musicians or actors who need good vision from all distances without glasses, or office workers who must read from computer screens over many hours.
I always allow enough time for the examination to listen to each patient and find out what their needs are. I take great pride in solving difficult problems that had not yet been solved. And if the problem is outside my area of expertise, I'll always find the right referral for that patient.
Do I need to pay for the lens fitting in eye exam?
It should depend on the doctor's office policy and normally you will be charged for the service you get. Before the exam, you should tell him that you don't need the lens fitting. If they insist on giving you the service you don't want then change for another doctor.
From which store can I get a repair kit to tighten my glasses?
You can try Try Wal-Mart, Target, CVS or something like that.
Can I fix my glasses with super glue?
It is a stupid idea to repair it with super glue. You may ruin your glasses. Why not take them to the glasses store and ask the professional person to repair it? It won't cost much or they may even do it for free if it is an easy case.
Does Tricare pay for the contact eye exam?
Tricare will only cover routine eye exam in a year, the contact eye exam is not included. You can go to the TRICARE website to find more information about it.
Should I get Goggles or Contacts for Basketball?
It is really hard to choose as neither of them is a good choice for you. For me, I would choose contacts cuz the big goggles on my face would always stop me from moving freely and I can't see clearly through edge of the lens.
how long does it take to get contact lenses?
It would depend on if they have the contacts of your prescription in stock. If your eyes fit some average,it is possible that you will get them the same day. If it is the first time your wear contacts, the optomitrist will give you a pair of "tester" contacts and decide which type suits you best.
Can such product repair scratched eyeglasses?
I think you are referring LENS DOCTOR. it is not as effective as it claims. I have tried it once and the liquid just fills in the scratches temporarily so that they become less visible. After about 15 minutes, it's gone. It may even leave sticky gookum that's hard to get off.
Can an eye doctor be able to determine if you have diabetes?
Yes they can. Because diabetes can cause diabetic retinopathy and there will be some changes in your eyes if you have diabetes. If he told you have diabetes, you need to be checked again by a physician.
