In the Ozone Park, optometrists can be found in the vicinity of a chain optical retail store, or in an independent optometrist's office. Optometrists are trained to address both vision refractive errors and eye health. Many optometrists sell high-end eyeglasses and contact lenses in their practices with the most professional possible services in addition to performing eye exams and writing prescriptions. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (MD) in the eye care and vision health who perform eye exams, write prescription for eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses, diagnose and treat eye diseases and carry out eye surgery. Ophthalmologist's responsibility is much beyond that of optometrist.

  • Yeah, it is common to some extent. Colored dots maybe caused by the special coatings on your glasses, especially when you look through sunlight. Small distortions is also common when looking through lenses, especially if you have strong prescription. If you still feel uncomfortable, you can go back to your eye doctor to check if there is something wrong with your prescription.

  • It is fairly common for people to have different prescription in each eyes. Just like, some people have one foot slghtly larger than the other. One eye slightly bigger than the other. Make sure to wear glasses which are prescribed especially for your eyes. Particularly when wearing contact lenses, don't wrongly wear your left contact lens on your right eye, or wear your right contact lens on your left eye, or will damage your vision.

  • It is not the lasik cause the older people suffer Presbyopia, it is because their lens of the eye change in shape more for near objects than for far objects so as the lens hardens, so it's more difficult to focus on objects that are near. In a sense, nearsighted people are less likely to suffer farsightedness than others.

  • Prevention of UV radiation is almost the first concern for people to choose sunglasses. Except for sunglasses which are labeled as "cosmetic', all sunglasses offer the protection of UV rays.

  • Eye muscles is not realted to astigmatic, instead of that, the irregular shape of cornea or lens can cause astigmatic. 1. If the cornea does not curve perfectly - if one half is flatter or steeper than the other - the light that hits it will not refract properly and the retina at the back of the eye will receive an imperfect image. The person will have blurred vision from that eye - astigmatism.2. The lens has variations in its curvature, rather than having a perfect curve, causing images to reach the back of the eye (retina) imperfectly. Most patients with lenticular astigmatism have a normally shaped cornea - the defect is only in the curvature of the lens. Source:http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/158810.php.

  • I've got astigmatism and farsightedness and have been wearing glasses all the time as what my doctor suggested me. Everytime when I remove my glasses I cannot see clearly even the near things. Maybe not to wear them if you have astigmatism will get you a worse vision.

  • Myopia is also called nearsightedness, it is a refractive disorder where distant object cannot be seen clearly. This condition occurs because light rays coming to an eye from distant object focus in front of retina and the resulting image on the retina is blurry. The most common reason for myopia is elongation of an eyeball and normal refractive power becomes too strong for an eye. The images formed on the retina are blurry and therefore cannot be seen clearly. This form of myopia is known as axial myopia. In some rare cases it is possible that refractive power of an eye is too strong for a normal size of an eyeball and images from distant objects again focus in front of retina instead on it. The reason is either a strong refractive power of cornea (for example in condition known as keratoconus), or lens (for example condition known as lenticonus.
