• Is it possible to get clear lenses with UV protection?

  Of course you can. Most of the lenses can block UV rays more or less,but a UV protection coating can give you 100% protection.

• Is it necessary for the prescription glasses to have UV protection?

  Too much UV exposure can cause cataracts later on in life and UV protection should not make things look dim.Maybe you need to change another place to get prescription glasses with UV protection.

• Are optometrists able to tell if sunglasses have UV protection?

  I am not sure if the optometrist can tell whether the sunglasses have UV protection. But I have heard that there is a machine to test how much UV rays can the sunglasses block.You can have a ask in the optical store.

• Is it possible to have healthier eyes if I wear glasses full-time?

  Nearly all lenses in glasses can provide UV protection?I have never heard about that.Some glasses with special coating may have the UV protection and polycarbonate lens can block the UV automatically but not 100%.Even it is true,there is no study showing that wearing glasses all the time can give you healthier eyes.

• Is it possible to remove transitions from my glasses?

  I think there is no way to remove it as it is the material inside the lens.It is not like the outside coating which can be stripped off easily.

• Is the UV protection in a prescription lens enough to protect our eyes?

  That will depend on whether they have full UV protection. A prescription glasses lens can be made with UV protection, in which the special materials are used to protect UV rays. Whether the prescription glasses with UV protection can fully protect your eyes depends on the index of UV protection of the lens. If the lens is made of UV400, then it will block all the UV rays and protect your eyes completely.

• Can children younger than 6 wear sunglasses?

  Children younger than 6 don't actually need sunglasses. But if the lights are too strong,they can wear them for one or two hours and take them off once they get to indoors.

• Does the UV protection in sunglassess have a expiration date?

  If the sunglasses have a good UV protection, then it will be valid until your sunglasses is broken or be damaged. If the quality of UV protection is not so good, it may lose its effect with prolonged use.
