In the New Holland, optometrists can be found in the vicinity of a chain optical retail store, or in an independent optometrist's office. Optometrists are trained to address both vision refractive errors and eye health. Many optometrists sell high-end eyeglasses and contact lenses in their practices with the most professional possible services in addition to performing eye exams and writing prescriptions. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (MD) in the eye care and vision health who perform eye exams, write prescription for eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses, diagnose and treat eye diseases and carry out eye surgery. Ophthalmologist's responsibility is much beyond that of optometrist.

  • You make me feel confused. Why do you have to fake an eye test to get reading glasses? Also there is no way to fake it. There will be a machine shining a light in your eye and they will know what your prescription is.

  • It should depend on what they are used for. If you wear them all day for reading or some close work, it won't make much difference in your vision. But if you wear them for distant vison most of the time, eyesight will be messed up and feel blurry. It is the same as glasses for myopia or hyperopia, only put on them when you need.

  • I am also looking for metal frames without the nose pad. I have had these in the past, and they are much more comfortable. If you have any luck finding them, please let me know where

  • Yes, i work in front to the computer for more than 8 hrs a day, so i need to wear them. But my computer glasses are only for protecting against the radiation from the computer, they are non prescription.

  • When you can't see the small letters on your mobile phone or the news papers I think you need to use reading glasses.

  • If you need to wear them for near-distance work all day, then it's ok. However, if you need to see far most of the time wearing reading glasses will make your vision blurry cuz the reading prescription is just designed for reading or computer use. Given your situation, i suggest you get your reading glasses online cuz for glasses with same quality, accuracy and fitness, the price online is 50%~90% lower than that in the drug store or in the brick-and-mortar stores. Maybe you can check out http://www.firmoo.com/reading-glasses.html where the reading glasses are priced as low as $8. Hope these will be helpful for you.
