In the Plymouth Meeting, optometrists can be found in the vicinity of a chain optical retail store, or in an independent optometrist's office. Optometrists are trained to address both vision refractive errors and eye health. Many optometrists sell high-end eyeglasses and contact lenses in their practices with the most professional possible services in addition to performing eye exams and writing prescriptions. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (MD) in the eye care and vision health who perform eye exams, write prescription for eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses, diagnose and treat eye diseases and carry out eye surgery. Ophthalmologist's responsibility is much beyond that of optometrist.

  • Transition glasses can change color from clear to dark due to the exposure to the UV rays. When you go outside, it turn dark just like sunglasses. When you go indoors, it will turn clear just like regular glasses. Anti-glare glasses are used to reduce the glare from the surface like water, glass and snow. So it just depends on your purpose. If you want to wear your glasses all day, then you can choose transition glasses. If you just want to the glasses that can reduce the glare, then you should choose the anti-glare glasses.

  • If you pay enough care to it and don't make it scratched,it can last as long as many years. You should be especially careful when cleaning it.I have a pair of anti-glare glasses and they are in the third year now.

  • Since you feel dizzy at closer objects with your original prescription, you should take your doctor's advice to wear a slightly weaker glasses which you can get used to quickly. Once my doctor suggested me wear weaker glasses that I can see more clearly than my original prescription. And I feel comfortable when I wear them all day now. So I think it is better to wear a slightly weaker glasses.

  • To relieve your eye strain, pair of computer glasses can meet your needs. You can also keep your eyes away from your computer screen regualrly and let your eyes relax, then it will reduce your eye strain. If you want to get anti-glare glasses, you can talk to your doctor and take your doctor's advice.

  • Aplly several drops of a mild dishwater detergent into the water and mix them up. Then soap your lenses into the water and gently rub your lenses with your finger. Finally, rinse your glasses under warm, running water and dry them with soft cloth. The mild dishwater detergent won't harm your lens.

  • Legally blind has nothing to do with the prescription numbers. Legally blind means that your best vision cannot be corrected with glasses or contact lenses any better than 20/200. A normal person with 20/20 vision can see objects clearly that is 200 feet away from him, while the legally blind person can only see the object clearly that is 20 feet away from him. A legally blind person can't see objects clearly that is very far or close.

  • Of course you can. You can take your glasses back to your optician where you bought your glasses. Their lab will add the anti-glare coating on your lenses. But it may be costly. You can contact your optician to determine whether they are willing to do it for you.

  • In my opinion, anti-glare glasses can be used for night driving because they can reduce nighttime distortions so as to provide a clear vision for drivers. However, the anti-glare coating will add the weight to the lenses especially for the high prescription lenses, so people will find uncomfortable to wear them all day.
