• What are the common eye problems among older people?

  It is unbelievable that some people in their 80s still have good vision. It is definitely true that old individuals have different degrees of vision ability. Older people will have presbyopia, glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. So early detection and treatment of these underlying diseases are essential to control and cure them.

• How can I tell if I have high eye pressure?

  There is no such sigh indicating high eye pressure. The doctor would detect it by special device and tell if you have high eye pressure.

• What are OTC lubricating eye drops used for?

  Lubricating eye drops are mainly used for reducing the signs and symptoms of dry eye, but it can only temporary relief of burning and irritation due to dryness of the eye. You should not use them if you are sensitive to any ingredient in the product.

• What should I do if the sand and dust get into my eyes?

  It happens to me a lot because I never wear glasses. The sands would come into my eyes easily especially in windy days. I think it is better to wear sunglasses when outside. If there is sand or dust in your eyes, don't rub your eyes cuz you may scratch the cornea. Close and open them for several times and they will come out.

  There are several complications you may suffer after cataract surgery, such as bleeding , swelling, inflammation, damage to the cornea and severe infection. If thet are serious enough, you may need a repeat cataract surgery. However, These complications are rare which are fewer than 1 out of 100 patients. So there is no need to worry about it.

  No. Plastic glasses won't do harm to your eyes. Plastic glasses also have nose pads which won't make your glasses too close from your eyes.

• In what situation should I not use pinhole glasses?

  Pinhole glasses use the technology to reduce the amount of light getting into the eye, so people will find difficult seeing in the dark or dimly light places with pinhole glasses. So pinhole glasses are not suitable for dark or dimly light places.
