• Will I develop glaucoma if it exits in my family?

  There is a high chance that you could develop glaucoma if there is a history of glaucoma in your family. But you should not worry too much about it as it is much easier to treat such disease nowadays if it is diagnosed in time.

• Can I wear yellow tinted sunglasses in bright sunlight ?

  Yellow tinted sunglasses can improve the light contrast to make things more clear, so they are much useful in cloudy days or at night. But it is not a good choice to wear them in sunny days as they could make the lights more glaring. You may choose polarized lens which can reduce glare for cycling.

• What can reading letters in an eye test tell?

  The doctor can determine if you are short sighted by asking you to read the certain row on the letter chart. Most nearsighted people can't read the small letters at the bottom of the chart but farsighted people can. Also the optometrist will also ask the patient to read something on a piece of paper. If you need the paper to be further away to be able to read it, then you are farsighted.

• Will the photochromic lenses in sunglasses become completely clear indoors?

  Good quality photochromic sunglasses can get completly clear indoors. Maybe the sunglasses you got are not quite good, so there still is slight tint in the lens.

• Why is measurement of the Pupillary Distance unnecessary in an eye exam?

  Actually the PD has nothing to do with eye exam and it is not required in the US or Canada either. The doctor would only measure it if you are going to buy glasses from them at the same time. You can aslo measure you PD by yourself at home with a ruler and a mirror.

• What would the doctors do to perform a lazy eye test?

  They will look at your pupil reflex alignment with a penlight, check alignment with cover/uncover testing, sometimes Maddox rod testing if you have one. see if there is a refractive error or if the best corrected vision is limited.

• How to get an eye test on the NHS?

  You may be qualified to get a free test on the NHS if you are under 19 and in full-time education. Also diebetes or glaucoma in your family history qualifies for free.

• Are Black Rimmed clear Eyeglasses in style?

  They are still quite fashionable. I have seen many celebrities wearing such kind black rimmed eyeglasses, female and male. Just be confident and have a try. You will look cool with them.
