I will never return to this Optical department ever again! I feel like my valuable time and hard earned money was stolen! During the appointment, the doctor could not determine the correct visual prescription for one of my eyes. Then she said that I should just get new glasses and try them for a couple of weeks, and if I still couldn’t see then I should come back and she would refer me to someone else. I’m sorry but that does not make any sense to me. She is going to charge me for a visit that she was not able to perform correctly and wants me to spend even more money on a pair of glasses with the wrong prescription. Then on top of that I would have to come in again to get referred to another doctor where I would have to spend more money again on another visit and even more money on, once again, new glasses. This is either a good scam or the doctor and sales clerk are...

In the Greendale, optometrists can be found in the vicinity of a chain optical retail store, or in an independent optometrist's office. Optometrists are trained to address both vision refractive errors and eye health. Many optometrists sell high-end eyeglasses and contact lenses in their practices with the most professional possible services in addition to performing eye exams and writing prescriptions. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (MD) in the eye care and vision health who perform eye exams, write prescription for eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses, diagnose and treat eye diseases and carry out eye surgery. Ophthalmologist's responsibility is much beyond that of optometrist.

  • BC on contact lenses stands for ""base curve."" The base curve of a contact lens is related to the shape of the patient's eye. It is one of the items in your eyes examination. In most cases, the base curve is the same for both eyes.

  • No. contact lenses would not be thicker if you have stronger prescription, instead Focal length of contact lenses decreases.

  • The glasses that Steve Jobs wore were the German Lunor Classic Rund PP which is a pair of round-lensed glasses. I am not sure where to get the exact same glasses as that Steve Jods worn, but you can buy similar ones, like round glasses at any optical stores.

  • It is not recommended to use contact lenses that are out of date. Because the cotact lenses are much easier to be infected during long time of use and there is possiblity that the bacterial stay on the surface of the lenses so as to cause eye diseases.

  • Maybe it is because you can't put them into the correct position. If they are in the right position, it is probably caused by the bigger of basic curve. If the number of basic curve is bigger, then the lens is flatter and in this case the lens will slip so that you can feel the lenses moving in your eyes.

  • Sunglasses/goggles may work. If you want to proect your eyes better, the oversized sunglasses may be your first choice cause they can wrap your eyes around.

  • You can search online, buy them at Walmart or go to the brick and mortar store.

  • This depends on how strong your power is. A contact lens prescription can be the same as a prescription for glasses when: - the prescription is a lower power, ie: -4.00 to +4.00 and - there is absolutely no astigmatism present. If you have any astigmatism or require a lens power greater than +/-4.00, the parameters of the contact lens can change. - if you have astigmatism under 0.50, a spherical lens should be prescribed. - astigmatism of 0.50 to 0.75 can be effectively corrected with an aspheric lens. - astigmatism greater than 1.00 should be managed with a toric lens. If your prescription power for glasses is greater than +/-4.00, you should see a difference in the power of your contact lens prescription. Generally, every time your glasses prescription increases or decreases by a power of 2, your contact lens prescription will increase by an additional power of +0.25. For every power change of 2 in a glasses prescription, the difference of +0.25 power is needed to compensate for the location of the contact lens. Your glasses are much further from the front surface of the cornea than contact lenses. Sources: http://www.contactlenses.co.uk/education/public/spectacle_vs_contact_lens_rx.htm
