  • I guess you are meaning make your glasses and the cheap reading glasses you bought in the market into one lens ? There is no way to work on the original lenses ,and you need to get a new pair of bifocal glasses . The upper part is for close work such as sewing and the lower part is for regular vision.

  • most people will have such case when they get new glasses .give yourself one more week to get used to it . If you still feel strain then , check with the seller that they sell you the right glasses ,or there are some problem with your prescription . Then you will have an eyes exam again .

  • Hi! It depends from person to person, many find that only 0.25 have no difference, but some people are more sensitive. You can make a multifocal glasses yes, but the peripheral vision , cuz it will be somewhat distorted because of astigmatism (distortion) that all sides have multifocal, but some have less, others more. If you wear glasses only for reading it, away you do not need glasses, you can make an intermediate glasses with lenses. It means having the middle ground and near, more free from distortion and wider fields. This lens is ideal for people who work very closely with the vision (eg architect, asrtista plastic).

  • RX eye glasses have minus power lenses for distance vision, while reading glasses have plus power lenses for up close. So you can't replace the RX eye glasses with reading glasses because they have different purpose. According to your prescription, you should wear RX eye glasses.

  • Reading glasses would not work for you when you read on the computer. They are only needed when you have difficulty reading the small texts on the books. If you wear reading glasses for computer use, you may feel blurry and get a headache. It is better for you to get a pair of non prescription computer glasses which are specially designed for computer users as you have good vision. It can help ease the tiredness when reading for a long time.

  • In my experince , one who don't wear prescription glasses use them will feel bluring and cause eye strain and headache . It won't destroy his eyesight in the short term but will give him serious headache . If he want to wear glasses eagerly , he should get non prescription glasses rather than magnified ones .

  • Presumably the contacts have already corrected any nearsightedness/astigmatism, so you can just wear the pre-made drugstore reading glasses over your contacts (it won't hurt you vision). Sure, you can choose to go to an optician and get a custom-made one, but try the cheap drugstore ones first and see if they work OK for you.

  • The glasses with number "+" are used for farsightedness who have problems seeing things close ,while the number "-" means nearsightedness . The reading glasses you can bought over-the-counter are usually come with "+", and I don't think they can come with a "-" .So for your case , you only need prescription glasses . You may need reading glasses when you age 40s .

  • No.They are not the same.Computer glasses aim to adjust your vision for the distance to a computer while the reading glasses for a book disance.I haven’t heard of ones can do both.
