  • I guess you are meaning make your glasses and the cheap reading glasses you bought in the market into one lens ? There is no way to work on the original lenses ,and you need to get a new pair of bifocal glasses . The upper part is for close work such as sewing and the lower part is for regular vision.

  • Hi! It depends from person to person, many find that only 0.25 have no difference, but some people are more sensitive. You can make a multifocal glasses yes, but the peripheral vision , cuz it will be somewhat distorted because of astigmatism (distortion) that all sides have multifocal, but some have less, others more. If you wear glasses only for reading it, away you do not need glasses, you can make an intermediate glasses with lenses. It means having the middle ground and near, more free from distortion and wider fields. This lens is ideal for people who work very closely with the vision (eg architect, asrtista plastic).

  • The glasses with number "+" are used for farsightedness who have problems seeing things close ,while the number "-" means nearsightedness . The reading glasses you can bought over-the-counter are usually come with "+", and I don't think they can come with a "-" .So for your case , you only need prescription glasses . You may need reading glasses when you age 40s .

  • people usually start need reading glasses around fortys. Some are younger, some are older. If you are only going to use your glasses "as needed" for reading, etc., then the drugstore/discount store types should be fine for you. However, if you are going to be wearing them for extended periods then it is worth it to get an eye exam and some good prescription lenses. They are expensive but worth it in my opinion. I got progressives because I was sick of taking them on and off constantly. Bifocals would work too.

  • There are so many options.you can go to your nearby glasses stores to try on and see if it works well for reading.

  • why not go to an optical store and ask if they can do it ? I think it is not a difficult thing since the the reading prescription is added to the prescription for distance.

  • most people will have such case when they get new glasses .give yourself one more week to get used to it . If you still feel strain then , check with the seller that they sell you the right glasses ,or there are some problem with your prescription . Then you will have an eyes exam again .

  • I am 23 and don't need reading glasses . But my father started using reading glasses few years ago (about 45). He could not see the small texts on newspaper . It is also impossible for him to thread a needle. And often get frequent headaches, eyestrain or eye fatigue while reading. I don't have shopping experience from 99 cent store and unable to know the quality of their glasses . Generally glasses can still work without any big problems unless your prescription change .

  • Wearing reading glasses that bought from the store won't make you need glasses, but they will make things blurry with your distance vision while you are wearing them. If you just want to wear glasses for fashion , you can get fake glasses online.

  • The resding glasses in drug store will not correct astigmatism. You need to go to an eye doctor and have an exam , then you can get your prescription put into a pair reading glasses that can correct astigmatism.
