  • If you can see clearly while reading, you don't have to wear reading glasses, otherwise the reading glasses can cause eye strain. If you read a lot , you can stop reading and relax your eyes after a long reading, or you can do some eye exercises to relieve your eye strain.

  • I guess you are meaning make your glasses and the cheap reading glasses you bought in the market into one lens ? There is no way to work on the original lenses ,and you need to get a new pair of bifocal glasses . The upper part is for close work such as sewing and the lower part is for regular vision.

  • people usually start need reading glasses around fortys. Some are younger, some are older. If you are only going to use your glasses "as needed" for reading, etc., then the drugstore/discount store types should be fine for you. However, if you are going to be wearing them for extended periods then it is worth it to get an eye exam and some good prescription lenses. They are expensive but worth it in my opinion. I got progressives because I was sick of taking them on and off constantly. Bifocals would work too.

  • Bifocals would be a good choice that you can read on the bottom part and far away on top. Go to your eye doctor, he will give you more information.

  • Probably a pair of bifocal glasses with the upper part for computer use, lower part for reading can meet your demands.First, your recent RX is needed. (make sure your SPH power, near PD/ far PD, ADDare all included). Second, choose the frame that can be made into bifocals/progressives. (usually the frame height is greater than that of single vision lenses). Third, state clear or choose the right usage of your glasses( bifocals for both reading and computer use).

  • I had the same problem as you. When I asked my doctor ,he said that wearing the reading glasses was not because my eyes would get weaker but because I would get used to seeing so much clearer with the reading glasses on. You’d better visit your eye doctor to give you an eye check. Then you will get your prescription.

  • Reading glasses are used for people who age 40s and have presmyopia or have reading problems to help correct the focus .But if you have perfect vision , they are useless for you .If you do love the feeling of wearing them ,you can go for non prescription or clear sunglasses . It is easy to get them online . I know Firmoo is a good place to buy clear sunglasses in low price .

  • Hi! It depends from person to person, many find that only 0.25 have no difference, but some people are more sensitive. You can make a multifocal glasses yes, but the peripheral vision , cuz it will be somewhat distorted because of astigmatism (distortion) that all sides have multifocal, but some have less, others more. If you wear glasses only for reading it, away you do not need glasses, you can make an intermediate glasses with lenses. It means having the middle ground and near, more free from distortion and wider fields. This lens is ideal for people who work very closely with the vision (eg architect, asrtista plastic).

  • It sounds like you need an eye exam and an updated prescription possibly if you have been using the same eyeglasses for five years. It is ok to wear the normal glasses if you feel good on them . It is better for you to visit your doctor before you decide to swith them .

  • Yes, you can. You can choose wrap-around sunglasses and input your prescription for reading. You can also choose regular eyeglasses frame, input your prescription for reading and choose the tinted/gradient tinted color lenses to make you a pair of sunglasses.
