Pink eye is also called conjunctivitis or sore eyes in another word. Conjunctivia is the dome-shaped clear and transparent membrane covering on eyeball and inside of eyelids, to protect the inner soft tissue from possible damages. Pink eye is the inflammation of the conjunctivia, caused by bacterial or viral infection or allergic reaction. Bacterial and viral infection are highly contagious and they are always lasting for longer period. In this case, patients can apply warm compress which is alway effective as treatment. But there is a possiblity that pink eye is caused by allergic reaction. This kind of pink eye is not contagious and it comes and goes very fast. It causes the exact same symptoms as the other two kinds of pink eye. However, as long as if you are get out of reaching the allergens, these symptoms would clear very fast. In this situation, you should stay away from the allergens, flush eyes with water, and apply a air purifier to filter these allergens.

Actually, conjunctivitis is most commonly caused by viral infection. However, bacterial infections, allergies, other irritants and dryness also cause its occurrence. Pink eye means some bacteria and viruses can spread easily from person to person, but is not a serious health risk if diagnosed promptly. Here we classify pink eye as viral infection and bacteria infection. Viral conjunctivitis is due to adenovirus, which is the most common cause of viral conjunctivitis. The most common causes of acute bacterial conjunctivitis are staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus pneumonia, and haemophilus influenza. Although pink eye can be fine in seven days with out any medical treatment, you still need to pay attention to it in that pink eye is the basic factor to cause other eye problems. And pink eye will spread person to person, so in order to spread it to others and get worse, you'd stay at home.
