Yes, your mother is quite right that kidney problems can also affect our vision. Diabetes and high blood pressure are often main causes of kidney problems and they also can result in eye diseases and even blindness. To begin with, cataracts, especially sugar cataracts, are very likely to occur when you have kidney problems caused by diabetes. Your vision will be totally clouded and blurred due to this kind of cataract. Likewise, you have higher risks of suffering glaucoma when you have high blood pressure and diabetes. And I should warn you that a gradual loss of peripheral vision is very likely to occur to you if you ignore the glaucoma along with kidney problems. Then how can you know that you have vision problems while suffering kidney problems? You can tell by the common symptoms that have been proved. Blurry vision, double vision, eye pain, and dark spots in the eye are all possible eye problems that may occur along with kidney problems.
