Does sunlight cause macular degeneration?

People say that many things in life can cause macular degeneration such as the light from the computer screen or the light from tv screen. So is sunlight also included in?

    The pathogenesis of macular degeneration is not that clear up till now. The assumptions have been proposed are Genetic factors, Light accumulation damage, Radical damage and Hemodynamic damage. And inside of our body, the lack of vital energy or first vitality shortage, the spleen kidney both deficiency and the out of balance of our body can promote the disease. However, outside, long time of staring at the same light resource, especially strong lights, like the sunlight, can speed up the degeneration of vision nerve. So it will easy to get deteriorated.

    Yes, too much exposure of sunlight or blue ray can cause macular degeneration. There are many possible causes of macular degeneration including too much exposure to sunlight, a lack of carotene or other nutrition in diet, and so on. As study show, people who are exposed to sunlight over 5 hours every day has two times of getting macular degeneration than those who are exposed to sunlight only 2 hours or less.

    There is no strong scientific surpport for this kind of saying that sunlight could lead to macular degeneration. However, there are researches that have found out that people living in the plateau section possess relatively high rate of morbidity of macular degeneration. Therefore, if you usually have to work in the outdoor, you had better wear sunbonnet or sunglasses in order to decrease the harm to the macula lutea. And when you are over fifty years old, you should pay more attention to it, because the macular degeneration is more often seen among the group of senior citizens. Vitamin E and rutin tablets as well as carotene are effective in preventing from macular degeneration. Therefore you can regularly eat some of these tablets.
