I think you should pick up your father in the hospital, because the people after lasik surgery cannot drive themselves. And buy a pair of sunglasses to protect his eyes from the harsh sunlight on the way home. When they are at home, ask him to have a good rest. And prepare an eyeshade for your dad.

Of course there are many special precautions for people who have lasik surgery to prevent injury and infection. During the first week, he should avoid getting products such as shaving lotion or hair spray into his eyes. He can't rub his eyes. He'd better wear the eye shield or goggles when he is sleeping. And remember that don't allow tap water to get in the eyes. He is not allowed to swimming too.

After LASIK surgery, take these precautions to prevent injury or infection during your initial postoperative period.
    1. Don't take a shower or wash your hair until the day after laser eye surgery.
    2. Avoid getting soap in your eye when bathing and washing your hair for at least one week after laser eye surgery. You should also avoid getting products such as hair spray and shaving lotion in your eyes while healing from laser eye surgery.
3.Avoid rubbing your eyes for at least a month after laser eye surgery.
4.Don't drive until you feel comfortable doing so, and with the approval of your doctor.
5.Wear the eye shield/goggles that you received in your postoperative kit when you are sleeping for the first seven nights after laser eye surgery.
6.Don't allow tap water to get in your eyes for at least a week after laser eye surgery.
7.Avoid swimming pools, whirlpools, saunas, and lakes for at least 3 weeks after laser eye surgery.
8.No eye makeup for at least one week after laser eye surgery. Discard partially used makeup to avoid bacterial contamination.
9.Don't get your hair colored or permed for at least 10 days after laser eye surgery.
10.No exercise for two days after laser eye surgery.
11.Wear eye protection for at least the first month once you have resumed exercise and sports activities after laser eye surgery.
12.Avoid dirty/dusty environments for seven days.
13.Bright sunshine may cause scarring, and therefore, sunglasses are recommended on bright days for a year after laser eye surgery.

After surgery, dark eye shields are worn to minimize brightness for several days, and goggles are worn at night to prevent the eye being rubbed, thereby dislodging the flap. Eyedrops are used several times a day to reduce inflammation and the risk of infection. After surgery, the eyesight will gradually improve over the following weeks, reaching its optimum after 1-3 months. Majority of patients report 20/20 vision at their 2nd day surgery follow up.
