How does the eye doctor check the infection?

Recently my eyes get aches a lot. But I don't know what caused this problem. Maybe I have got Keratitis. If I go to the eye doctor, how does he check for my infection?

First they will put eye drops in your eye, then they will use a special microscope to look into yur eye for internal swelling or something. They also can detect the changes your eyes have when your eyes get infected.
