Do polarized sunglasses protect your eyes better?

I am wondering whether polarized lenses protect my eyesight better than these lenses that are not polarized? Or do they simply do a better job of cutting down glare?

Polarized sunglasses are quoted with a special material, which let useful detailed optical information through while blocking out glare that might hurt your eyes. But this polarization has nothing to do with UV protection. So they don't "protect" your eyes better.

Yes, they only do a better job in cutting down glare. Don't expect them too much to protect your eyes.
