If your child is not with current vision issues or you don't have a family history of vision problems, vision insurance is usually not needed for 3- and 4-year-olds since they only visit the optometrist once or twice during those years.

If there is no history of vision problems in your family and your child's eyesight is normal, vision insurance may not be needed for 3- and 4-year-olds.It is certainly a good idea to have vision coverage However, if there is a family history of eye problems, then it is a good idea to have vision coverage starting at six months old, which will help with the costs.
