Does staying in a dark room too long be bad for my eyes?

I often watch TV in my basement and it is quite dark.Will this harm my vision?

    It will make your eyes feel fatigue and strain. But long time staying in such circumstance can be harmful to your vision. Why not light up your lamp while watch TV? I think it will help.

    No it isn't. We often turn lights off while watching TV, which will make us focus on the TV screen only and then we can see more clearly. I don't think it will harm my vision.
