What are the causes of high eye pressure?

What are the causes for someone to have high eye pressure? Is it dangerous to have high eye pressure?

    High eye pressure is caused by the increased amount of fluid in the eye. When the channels that normally drain the fluid from inside the eye are blocked, more fluid is accumulated in the eye, thus resulting in high eye pressure.

    Eye injury that affect the fluid production and drainage in the eye can cause high eye pressure. Some other eye conditions including pseudoexfoliation syndrome, pigment dispersion syndrome and corneal arcus can also cuse high eye pressure.

    Certain medications, like steroid medicines and steroid eye drops have side effect of causing high eye pressure.
