  People who suffer posterior vitreous detachment may get floaters. They may see a few or hundreds of dark spots floating in their vision. Some may see lightning flashes which are caused by residual areas where the vitreous remains attached to the retina.

  Symptoms of posterior vitreous detachment are usually less noticeable. However, the common symptoms of posterior vitreous detachment are floaters or lightning flashes in your vision. Some may find their vision decreased gradually. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you should go to see your ophthalmologist as early as possible.

  While many patients have no obvious symptoms, some individuals will experience symptoms such as floaters or flashing lights. The shape of floaters can be dot, circle, line, cloud or even cobweb. Suffering from large floaters, patients with posterior vitreous detachment may have difficulty in performing ordinary tasks such as reading and watching TV. This condition can be very distractive.
