What is the difference between contact lens exam and eye exam?

Two months ago I went to the eye doctor to get an eye exam. He gave me my presciption and I got my glasses. Well I just broke my new glasses and ive decided glasses were too much of a hassle. Now Im just wondering...What is the difference between contact lens exam and an eye exam. According to my knowledge...a contact lens exam is an eye exam PLUS contact fitting. Is this correct? So if I were to get contacts would I just have to get a contact fitting or would I have to get the whole contact lens exam? Any other suggestions/ or solutions?

yes ,the contact lens exam is just an eye exam plus contact fitting. Since you have done the regular eye exam ,the same part will not be repeated and you just need to test the parameters of the lenses required for you.

The difference between an eye exam and a contact lens exam is that your doctor will give some other tests to help you choose a pair of suitable contacts except for a standard eye exam. He or she may do a tear film evaluation to make sure that you have enough tears to comfortably wear contacts. He or she will measure your eye surface to determine what size and type of contacts are best for you.

They are a little different from each other. But both of them will check your eye condition. Then they will give you a piece of prescription. Prescription for glasses is different from prescription for contacts. The degrees in the prescription may be not the same. if you ask for a prescription for contacts, the doctor will measure your actual eyeballs and perform other tests to see whether you are a good candidate your contacts or not.

They are different. But some parts of procedures can be the same. Since you just had an eye exam, the doctor doesn't need to repeat some procedures anymore. You just need to finish some tests. The tests will help determine whether you are a good contact lens candidate or not. And then the doctor will determine the parameters of the lenses that are fit for you.

Contact lens exam is a part of your eye exam. once you need contact lenses, you need to get your eye checked and get your prescription including diameter for your contact lens.
