Both of my daughters were put on amoxicillin because they had a ear infection and pink eye and they are both little only 3 and 1 .. so getting them to hold still for eye drops would be next to impossible , so there Peds doc put them on amoxicillin because she said it would cover both the ear infection and pink eye ...it worked great !!!

Yes, the amoxicillin will help and clear pink eyes. The amoxicillin is a kind of the most commonly used penicillin which owns the beta lactam antibiotic role. It is a kind of white powder, with the acidic conditions stable. The gastrointestinal absorption rate of amoxicillin bactericidal is strong. The ability to pass through the cell membranes is good. It has the great ability to eliminate the bacterium in the body. And the pink eye is infectious conjunctivitis, which is an acute infectious ophthalmia which can be caused by many reasons. One of the main reasons is the viral conjunctivitis. You should use the amoxicillin to get rid of the bacterium in the eyes which will help you get well quickly. However, you should use the suitable amount of amoxicillin which will have the side effects.

No, it does not work for that. Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic, which is used to treat certain kinds of bacterial infections. But it would not work for cold, flu or other viral infections. Pink eye is mainly caused by bacteria and virus, which would present redness and inflammation of the conjunctiva covering the whites of the eyes, and the membranes on the inner part of the eyelids. If you want to take anything you need topical antibiotics (ie. applied to the affected area). There is evidence that proves that conjunctivitis does not clear up any quicker by using antibiotics. Just keep the eye clean by washing with warm water. Do not share towels to prevent infecting other people and re-infecting yourself.

Hello, in my opinion, the answer is no, there isn't any evidence about the use of topical antibiotics can clear up pink eyes. If you want to clear your pink eyes, just often wash your eyes with warm water and keep them clean. What's more, avoiding sharing towels with other people is also a good way to prevent from infecting other. Just keep a good and clean habit, your condition will be much better.
