Well, of course, retinal detachment can lead to blindness. And it is a kind of disease which can be very dangerous. Generally speaking, retinal detachment can be caused by many factors, such as the eye pressures, and injury. And for your situation, I will suggest you should take the retinal detachment surgery quickly, or it can lead to blindness. Also, it is important for you to be careful after the surgery, for your eyes are sensitive and fragile. For example, you should avoid eye injuries by wearing a protective shield at night and with naps until you are advised by your doctor. Anyway, just go and see an eye doctor as soon as possible.

If you have the detached retina which will be easily happened among the people with high prescription and not treat it as soon as possible, you will get blindness. In addition, there is no good way to treat the detached retina except the surgery. Thus, when you find that you get the detached retina, you should go to hospital to wait for the surgery as soon as possible.

The answer is a absolute yes.A detached retina is most commonly seen in the elderly and for those who are severely obese, and it could lead to blindness if not treated promptly and correctly. Of course the most common treatment is laser surgery ,but using cryotherapy to attach the retina back to the eye can help you as well. Then pneumatic retinopexy uses a gas bubble injected into the retina to set it in place and then attach it using laser surgery or cryotherapy.
