In the Waco, optometrists can be found in the vicinity of a chain optical retail store, or in an independent optometrist's office. Optometrists are trained to address both vision refractive errors and eye health. Many optometrists sell high-end eyeglasses and contact lenses in their practices with the most professional possible services in addition to performing eye exams and writing prescriptions. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (MD) in the eye care and vision health who perform eye exams, write prescription for eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses, diagnose and treat eye diseases and carry out eye surgery. Ophthalmologist's responsibility is much beyond that of optometrist.

  • You need to first and foremost take the qualifications and experience of your LASIK surgeon into account. It is may well more important than the surgical equipment. In terms of that, you may ask the doctor how long have he been doing such kind of surgery and how many how many refractive procedures have he performed totally. Besides, there are more question you may inquire such as: What did you handle the worst refractive surgery outcome experienced by your own patient? Have you ever had malpractice insurance coverage denied? If an enhancement surgery is required, what will you charge for the additional procedure? In conclusion, you should know will about your doctor's skills to make sure that he is good at this kind of surgery.

  • I have been to over 10 opthamologists with little results in helping my dry eyes. I've had the punctal plugs put in (they eventually pop out generally with a really bad cold). I have even surgery to close both lower tear ducts and they have reopened over time. My worst experience was having restasis proscribed for a bacteria infection. That left me with a scar at about 2 o'clock on my left eye. My experience with ophthalmologist has been bad. I realized several years later that the restasis incident was probably malpractice. The other doctors have left me with the feeling that there is money to be made in prolonging the problem (i.e. take this for two weeks if that doesn't work come see me I will give you something else that doesn't work and then come see me again in two weeks and we will continue this cycle forever - I make money and you continue to hurt).

I use to drive long distances on the weekends. The dry eyes would get me, the scar would start getting sticky and hurting, I would have tears that would burn the skin around my eyes and cheeks. One day before my 6 hour trip home I decided to put Vaseline on the skin around my eyes to take care of the burning on my cheeks. 2 hours into my trip I realized that my skin was not burning, my eyes were not dry, and the scar was not bothering me. I was in shock. It was such a simple remedy. I've used it as a treatment for my severe dry eyes for at least 5 years now. It is not perfect - it doesn't always work instantly but it has been the best treatment I have found for severe dry eyes. I use the Vaseline, put on the skin around the corners of my eyes, and I use Refresh Optive as a lubricating eye drop. The Optive has glycerin and it is the only eye drop with any lasting power for me. I also make sure I get 8 hours of sleep a night. I need that for my eyes to recover from one day to the next. If I don't get enough sleep I feel it in the eyes the next day. To my great pleasure I have been able to avoid going back to an ophthalmologist.

  • Check if the earpieces on your eyeglasses dig into the tops of your ears. If you feel discomfort with earpieces, you may need to adjust it. If the earpiece on your eyeglasses should never feel like it is digging into your ears, you can bring the curve of the earpiece in closer to your head to make the earpiece tighter. But if the earpiece isn't bent properly, it will dig into the side of your head. You may need to adjust it in proper position.

  • The pink eye, is also called conjunctiva, which the eyelid and surface of eyes would be redness. It can be cause by various factors, which mainly divided into three main factors that are eye infection, dry eye and eye allergy. You can treat pink eye by yourself to reduce pain and keep your eye free of drainage. Hence, some home remedies are recommended. First and foremost, you should define what kind of pink eye you have. If it's eye allergy, you should use cold compresses. If it's eye infection, you should use warm compresses to reduce swelling.

  • I think it should depend on how is your sunglasses tinted the nature of the material used for the lenses. Some lens can't be dyed on the surface. Some sunglasses have preventive coatings of UV rays,anti-reflection etc, which may be damaged by the dye. You can take your sunglasses to an optometric shop and ask them.
