If you are considering Dr. McElroy at Meridian Vision I would strongly recommend you do not go ever.
I haven’t had glasses very long and I went to Dr. McElroy with a previous prescription. I told him that it was incorrect, that it gave me migraines, it did not improve my vision and that I could not see my computer at work, drive well, read easily and had no depth perception.
I only have benefits for once a year and after vomiting from migraines for a year, I wasn’t going to leave my glasses prescription up to miscommunication so I was very specific when I told him my vision concerns.
During the very swift exam, my interrupted questions about why the “better lens” options he showed were blurry were ignored. By the end of the exam, I hadn’t seen through any lenses that I felt comfortable with, but I was assured that all my vision concerns would be solved.
Fast forward – I get my glasses and 10 minutes later I call the office because I...

In the Meridian, optometrists can be found in the vicinity of a chain optical retail store, or in an independent optometrist's office. Optometrists are trained to address both vision refractive errors and eye health. Many optometrists sell high-end eyeglasses and contact lenses in their practices with the most professional possible services in addition to performing eye exams and writing prescriptions. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (MD) in the eye care and vision health who perform eye exams, write prescription for eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses, diagnose and treat eye diseases and carry out eye surgery. Ophthalmologist's responsibility is much beyond that of optometrist.

  • I suggest you see your primary care doctor first. They usually can diagnose and treat the eye infection. If they can't do this, they will know you need to see an eye specialist and recommend for you.

  • An eye doctor will use some tests, like a cover test, visual acuity test, vergence test, and suppression test to check whether you have double visions. Actually it's not so exactly, they will combine with what you say to tell whether you have double vision .

  • Usually the doctor will look into your eye directly to detect the infection. If yo do have, they may gave you antibiotics and eye drops.

  • When you go to the store, just look for name brands and try them on.If they do make you look mature and suit you fine, you can remember what kind of styles they have. Then you can go to other places to look for some similar styles with lower price.

  • I know that in the US the eye doctor offices have no right to refuse to write the contact lens prescription to the customer. If they do, you can take them into court.

  • I think most eye doctor will charge you for an additional fee because the doctor will check the health of the cornea again and take some measurements, which is important to your eye health. However, it is worth to pay extra money because the health of your eye is most important.

  • Some eye doctor will put drops into your eyes to make your pupil dilated, then they will use magnifying lens to look into your eyes to check whether your retina be damaged. Then they can detect whether you have got diabetes or not.

  • No, the prescription of eyeglasses is different from that of contact lens. I had met the same problem as you. When I put them on, I always got headaches. You should go see your eye doctor to check your eye again.
