Can thyroid problems cause blurred vision?

  Thyroid problems can cause blurred vision. From physiological aspect, the disorders of people's face and head can have an effect on eyes, because they have common blood vessels, nerves, lymph and other tissues. Thyroid belongs to the whole body systemic disease, which can naturally affect the visual function. If it is accompanied by hyperthyroidism, it will cause exophthalmos, thyroid associated ophthalmopathy is the most common disease of eyes, and it is included into autoimmune diseases. And even the thyroid function is normal, it also can cause orbital diseases. Thyroid associated ophthalmopathy is a common reason which cause unilateral exophthalmos and binocular exophthalmos.

  The thyroid gland is located on the front part of the neck below the thyroid cartilage. The most common thyroid problems involve abnormal production of thyroid hormones. Thyroid problems have so many symptoms. You might experience muscle or joint aches and pain. Neck pain or discomfort may also occur. You skin and hair may begin to change and fall out. Swellings can occur under your eyes. Thyroid problems also accompany with severe fatigue and tired. All these signs have a deep side effect on eye movements. Fatigue and tired are easy to cause dry eyes and eye pain. The cataract may be also affected by thyroid problems so that cloudy in eyes follows you. That is, thyroid problems are possible to cause blurry vision.

  Blurred vision could be an important clue of eye disease. Blurred vision could be caused by dry eyes, migraines, myopia, cataracts and other disease. It's hard to identify that if your blurred vision is caused by thyroid problems.
