Would it work if I put reading glasses over my glasses?

I have Varilux glasses for years. As far vision is still impeccable, to read, more or less, to sew, I can not see anything. If I bought cheap reading glasses in supermarkets and I put them over my glasses, to machine stitch, would it work?

I guess you are meaning make your glasses and the cheap reading glasses you bought in the market into one lens ? There is no way to work on the original lenses ,and you need to get a new pair of bifocal glasses . The lower part is for close work such as sewing and the upper part is for regular vision.

No. It won't work if you put reading glasses over your glasses. If you do like that, it will make things blurry which won't allow you see clearly either for far or for near. If you need glasses for both reading and distant vision, you can get bifocal glasses.

I think you shouldn't put your reading glasses over your glasses. I can guess you just need to update your glasses from what you said. Our eyesight decreases as we get older. So we need to update our glasses to help us see clearly.

I think you should buy a pair of new prescription glasses because I guess your Varilux glasses can't provide with clear vision anymore. Usually the people who have vision problems should have an eye exam every year. Some people may need to update their glasses every year, but to those who take care of their eyes in daily lives may need to update their glasses every two years. A pair of new glasses can help correct vision problem and reduce eye fatigue. So I strongly suggest you to schedule an eye exam ASAP and buy a pair of new glasses with your new prescription immediately, or you still can't see things clearly with your glasses and will suffer from eye fatigue too.

It wouldn't work. Dude, you'd better schedule an eye exam and get a piece of prescription first. Then you can buy a pair of prescription glasses with your prescription. The glasses sold online are much cheaper than that sold in any local eyeglasses stores. So I suggest you to have a look online first. I often buy glasses from Firmoo, Amazon, lenscrafters or walmart. Their glasses are affordable.
