What does a corneal abrasion feel like?

Can you tell me what does a corneal abrasion feel like? Is it a serious eye disease?

    A corneal abrasion is a scratch on the eye's cornea. If you got a corneal abrasion, you may feel like you have sand or grit in your eyes.
