It is common to find people around the age of 40 holding books, magazines, newspapers, menus or other reading materials at arm's length when reading, they have to hold reading materials at a distance because they suffer presbyopia and they need to focus properly. If you get presbyopia, you will have difficulty in reading fine print, particularly in low light conditions. And after reading for a long time, you can feel eye strain and you can find your vision becoming blurred in the course of transitioning between viewing distances. In addition, when you carry out close work, you may develop headache or feel fatigue.

It is easy to tell whether you have presbyopia or not. It happens because of the elasticity loss of eye muscles and lens due to aging. It can't be cured, yet with prescribed glasses or contact lenses, the effect of presbyopia could be corrected. When you got presbyopia, you might find vision blurred when you try to see something near. Small printings are totally hazy that you can't tell a word. If keep doing close work, you might feel faint, fatigue and even headache. Yet it is not a big deal. You don't have to worry about it. Now it affects nearly most of the people above 40 years old. It is a quite common situation. Don't worry too much.

If you have such symptoms as follows, be careful that you may get presbyopia. Firstly, you suddenly find that you cannot read fine print easily; secondly, eyestrain often disturbs you after a long time reading; thirdly, blur at near or momentarily blurred vision when transitioning between viewing distances. Many people receive a surgery operation. However, it is not suitable for everyone.Certain people with presbypoia may benefit from LASIK eye surgery, although there are limitations.
