Yes, eye strain can cause red eyes because it can lead to the bloodshot of eyes. When you get eye strain, you usually rub your eyes and some infections are possible, that's why you get red eyes. To solve the problem, you can get help with hypoallergenic preparations, since it can soothe your tired eyes. What's more, homeopathic eyewash can also be useful for bloodshot eyes. If your condition is very serious, you need to go to your doctor or optician and have the best treatment. Good luck!

Asthenopia or eye strain is an ophthalmological condition, which is accompanied with fatigue, pain in or around the eyes, blurred vision, headache and occasional double vision. Eye strain is commonly due to playing computer in a long time, reading too much, driving too long and other close activities that involve tedious visual tasks. These condition always make you continuously focus on a book or computer monitor, the ciliary muscle tightens. Eye strain can cause redness in eyes, but it does not absolutely cause red eyes.
