Sweetie, reading glasses have different degrees. Only a pair of reading glasses with appropriate degrees can help correct your vision problem. Wearing a stronger prescription or weaker prescription is not good for your eyes. You may suffer from headaches or even vomit if the prescription is too strong. You may suffer from eye fatigue if your prescription is not enough to help correct your vision problem. So I still suggest you to have your eyesight checked and get a piece of prescription first. Then you can buy a pair of prescription reading glasses in any local eyeglasses stores or online eyeglasses stores. Online eyeglasses stores can provide with cheap glasses. In general, the same glasses sold online are more affordable than that in physical shops. I suggest you to have a look at walmart vision center, it is said that we can get free eye exam at walmart vision center. Then you can place an order online after you get your prescription. Online eyeglasses stores such as Firmoo, Amazon are good choices. Hope this helped!

My father bought a pair of reading glasses on the street. He said that this pair of glasses can help correct his vision problem. I asked him to have his eyesight checked, but he refused to do that because he thought it would be waste of money if he spent some money to have an exam and then buy a pair of reading glasses again. I don't agree with him but I also can't convince him to buy a pair of new glasses. Dude, if you want to save money as my father did, I would like to tell you that you may choose a wrong way to save money. You should have an eye exam and then buy a pair of prescription glasses that can help correct your vision problem. You can get a pair of prescription glasses in any local optical shops or online eyeglasses stores or even from a pedlar on the street. But I would like to tell you that you'd better buy a pair of glasses with good quality. The glasses sold by pedlar on the street are not my choice because I think their glasses are with poor quality. Hope this helped!

Reading glasses can help correct presbyopia. If you have presbyopia, you can correct your vision problem by buying a pair of reading glasses with appropriate prescription. Generally speaking, they won't worsen your problem but help solve your problem. I think appropriate distance in the eyes of a book should be about 40cm. the people who have presbyopia may need a pair of reading glasses. Presbyopia often happens among people who are beyond 40 years old. But some people who have myopia also thought they may need a pair of reading glasses while they are totally wrong. So I suggest you to have your eyesight checked first and then get a piece of prescription. Good luck!
