Dry eye are a common eye condition that can afflict us more often than before. Dry eyes can lead of a lot of eye problems such as burning eyes, puffy eyes, and blurred vision. Causes of dry eyes include longtime visual activities, disease, contact lenses and environmental factors. Among all the possible causes of red eyes, the environmental factors should be taken into consideration, cold weather being one of them. Cold weather, according to the findings of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), cold weather with a temperature less than 30 degrees Celsius can lead to and worsen dry eyes. Cold weather can cause the meibum, the oily substance which helps to form the outermost layer of the tear film, to become too thick and stiff to spread onto the eye surface. And dry eyes thus appear.

Yes, the cold weather will cause your dry eyes. You may feel dry at the skin, too because of the large consumption of the fat inside the body. In addition, you should eat more food with vitamin C to moisture the eyes. You should drink more water to keep the balance of the temperature in the whole body.
